This week in Miami the energy is full of flair, color and art with Art Basel buzzing around the city. Today we bring you the top 5 public must-see exhibits and installations around town — some available to enjoy during Art week and others for weeks after.
#1 MAZE AT FAENA
MAZE: Journey Through the Algorithmic Self is an actual maze on Faena Beach by artist Sebastian Errazuriz. It was designed using AI platforms and to navigate it properly, you're encouraged to download his book, AI MAZE, accessible via QR codes within the maze's walls. Ends Dec 10.
#2 R-EVOLUTION
Premiering first at Burning Man, Artist Marco Cochrane’s 45-foot-tall, 32,000-pound female silhouette can now be seen on Lincoln Road. She glows in the sun, lights up at night and has 16 motors in her chest to simulate breathing. The impressive installation was by hand using a medieval enlargement tool called a pantograph. #3 HOUSE OF TILLY
Tilly, world’s first AI designer , will take over the Lobby of The Standard Spa, featuring five ‘future living’ design prototypes co-created by TillyAI in collaboration with human artisans and makers. Tilly was created by Sydney-based Studio Snoop, and is programmed with the studio’s core principles of heart-centered design that prioritizes nature and the elevation of positive human experience. #4 ART SEASON
Art Season at Wynwood Walls will host sculpture unveilings by Dan Lam and Ron English, talks with prominent figures in the art world, a solo exhibition inside the GGA Annex Gallery by international artist Kai, and the highly anticipated reclaimed subway car which has been transported 1000 miles from Virginia and will feature it as a permanent installation within The Walls. #5 NO VACANCY
Explore iconic Miami Beach hotels while enjoying installations fusing art and hospitality at the 2023 edition of No Vacancy. City of Miami Beach, in collaboration with the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA), is hosting this juried art competition that showcases 12 talented artists creating site-specific works of art at 12 Miami Beach hotels.
